Is climate change real?
Yes
Yes. Climate change is real, and the planet is warming primarily because of human activities—mainly burning fossil fuels and deforestation.
Key evidence from many independent measurements:
•Global average temperatures have risen about 1.2°C (2.2°F) since the late 1800s.
•Heat waves, heavy rainfall events, and wildfire conditions are becoming more frequent and intense.
•Glaciers and Arctic sea ice are shrinking; oceans are heating and expanding, raising sea levels.
•The chemical “fingerprint” of the extra CO₂ in the air matches fossil-fuel sources.
