🏆 2026 Nobel Peace Prize Controversy
The biggest global story: South African jurist Navi Pillay won the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize. Former UN human rights chief and International Court of Justice judge Navi Pillay has won the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize for her contributions to international law, the Nobel jury announced on Friday. The win is controversial because she is a former judge with the International Criminal Court who went on to become the UN human rights chief, and she also led a U.N. inquiry last year that accused Israel of genocide in the Gaza Strip, prompting Israel to quickly condemn her receiving the honor. In a lighthearted jab, Pillay joked "If you clap a little bit more I may share this prize with Trump" to a standing ovation in Nuremberg — a reference to President Trump's repeated claims that he deserves the prize.

🇮🇳 India: Delhi on Edge
Delhi is under heavy security today amid major unrest: Delhi is under stringent security on October 10th, with thousands of police and paramilitary personnel deployed across the city in anticipation of a major protest by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar, after authorities denied permission for the protest citing past breaches. The crackdown is extensive — mobile internet services were curbed, liquor shops closed, major markets shut, and Delhi Police detained over 100 individuals with criminal records in overnight operations as a precautionary measure. The Supreme Court has also weighed in, with reports of the court telling authorities not to completely halt metro and train services in the capital ahead of the protests.
