Is Donald Trump improving the US government?
Leans yesSays it is contestedSources conflict
Administration and supportive outlets credit DOGE with large savings and a successful border record, while GAO, NYT, Politico and CBPP-type sources say the savings claims are unverifiable or inflated and that the changes harm government.
Yes, in key measurable ways—particularly reducing bureaucracy, cutting regulations, and restoring core functions like border enforcement—though with significant chaos, disputed savings claims, overstated metrics, short-term disruptions, and trade-offs that critics highlight as degradation.
